Im breaking out my HP48GX with the TDS Pro Survey Card and 128K RAM card that purchased and used back in the mid 90s. Problem is I have lost the manuals and cant remember how to initiate the program. I did download a TDS COGO card manual but that didnt work. I do remember hitting alpha alpha twice but cant remember the balance of the key strokes. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Thomas:-)

Alpha key (twice) > "TDS48" > Enter.

I still keep one 48 and necessary cables in my briefcase.

Cogo is TDSCOGO just in case you have an old cogo card too.

Happy surveying.

David,

Thanks very much. I spent hours today trying to figure it and searching the web. Love these forums. I wasn't expecting such a fast response. Too used to plan checkers from LA County.....

Thanks again.

Big thanks. Nice thing about the HP48 with the Survey Pro setup is that most all functions are intuitive and self explainatory, keeping the learning curve to a minimum. Simple and straightforward.

You may run into battery issues. If the batteries on the cards are dead, you'll need to recharge them and possibly re-install the software. (The 'ALPHA" FC48 doesn't work for the re-install)
I had too fun with this just a few weeks ago. See the [msg=187745]Battery issues[/msg] thread to see how to do the recharge.

So glad I kept this thing stashed away for the last 15 years. Now I will use it take the Calif LS exam for the first and hopefully the last time. I had to buy an HP35 for the NCEE test. Now back to the 48 for this test. Judging from all the good talk abou this unit, I think Ill hang on to it.

I tried the HP 50; couldn't adjust to it.

I have collected 6 hp48 gx calculators. I got scared when one crashed!

That explains why the TDS COGO card I had was such a battery hog.

I use HP48 with SMI every day.
