We've discussed working in the rain with a Tablet before, with tablets that don't have a keyboard. Here is an update, good news!! Not new, this has been out a few years.
To work in heavy rain with an FC5000 / MEAS2 / FC6000 / MESA3 there is a special grounded stylus made by Juniper systems. This works very well when tablet settings are in RAIN MODE, in fact, better than I want it to. Before this, I had an excuse to get out of the rain.

There is also a Rugged Keyboard attachment available for these controllers. I find it too bulky and don't use this much. I'm so used to the on screen keyboard the hard keys don't interest me.

Glad to hear it has been working out so well! We just picked out up one of the stylus' to test out, but its been a little on the dry side lately.
