I'm trying to download firmware from Leica MyWorld for my CS20 controller but I'm just not having any joy with it. I don't know whether I didn't sacrifice enough Toblerone to the Swiss gods or whether my two-cups-and-a-piece-of-string internet connection here in Oz is the issue, but I cannot seem to get a download speed of more than 100 k/bit per second from the Swiss. My internet speed is actually fine- just not to MyWorld for some inexplicable reason. To make matters worse, the website cuts me off after around an hour (even if I painstakingly sit at my PC navigating around MyWorld to keep my login active) and does not allow for the use of Download Manager software to resume the download when it fails.
Would anyone happen to have a copy (or copies) of the CS20 Captivate Firmware that they can dropbox me? I'm interested in finding anything/everything from v7.03 and above. My instrument runs v7.03 but has no active CCP. My CS20's CCP has just expired, so it'll run anything.........I just can't download the file(s).

If your CCP is expired, that is likely the reason. Leica wants their money before they give you anything.
I actually did consider that, but thought I was just being paranoid. It's refreshing to know that I am not alone!
I have always used the older 1100s and have only recently upgraded to more modern equipment. Doing so has brought me into closer and closer contact with the Leica organisation and I must say that I am seriously unimpressed with their business model. They seem to want to treat us all like heroin addicts. I am a firm believer in the concept of "I bought it. It is now mine." I don't buy on finance. I save up and pay cash. This idea of subscription-based software and constant licensing sickens me and I do everything I possibly can to not participate. Slavery is illegal.
If true, actively preventing me from downloading software for a product that I own outright would be something that a talented lawyer might be interested in........

You can download whatever you want from my world, it just won't load on an instrument without the proper CCP date. Myworld is notoriously slow. I have never been successful at upgrading directly to the CS20. You might want to try a different browser.
Worst case scenario, I have copies of the firmware files from 7.03 to 8.3. Message me and we can figure out how the get them to you. They are big, about half a gig each.

I've tried Firefox, Edge and Brave. The download speeds are all extremely similar. I reckon I am being cut off.
My CCP only just expired, so I would be able to load even the most current firmware on the CS20.

I've been having slow downloads also last couple of days from the MyWorld site. It's on their end.
It's weird, I can start a download, it will say will take about an hour... so I would start another download of the same one and that one goes way faster... but fluctuates. I've had successful downloads in the end though.
Contact Leica and tell them to reboot the server! ; )
Which total station do you have?

I've got a TS16 running v7.03 and a CS20 that, regardless of the current(ish) CCP, never had its firmware updated. I bought them both second hand from different sources; hence the mismatch.
Yes, John is a wealth of help. And he has eyes you can get lost for days in.

It's the nature of the beast these days and is not unique to any specific brand. All of the major brands have their own proprietary software and updates and, at the end of the day, regardless of how your equipment is functioning, they will stop supporting it in an effort to force you to open your wallet and buy newer equipment, starting the cycle all over again.
