I work for a gov't agency that uses ACAD C3D (2014 for now). I need to have C3D but would like a better survey interface i.e. Carlson. Which Carlson product should I be looking at to run on my C3D where I can access functionality of both. Do I need to buy the OEM version with ACAD built in or what? Is this even possible or do I have to run both? Do not want a stand alone but a Carlson "module" or add on to my C3D. Trying to educate myself a bit here. Thanks.
If you own an AutoCAD license you can run it on top of C3D.... If you want to ditch C3D all together that is an option too.
You don't need Carlson with built in AutoCAD..... Carlson Intelicad is what I use everyday.
You can load Carlson Survey 2015 straight on top of your AutoCAD. This will give you the functionality of Carlson Survey and the stability of AutoCAD. No need to do anything with the Intellicad option. When you install the software it will ask you which way you want to go.
I run Carlson Survey, Civil, Hydro and Point Cloud over C3D.
I have not sat down with C3D yet. Carlson and I both ignore most of the C3D functions and use the CAD part. I have made some surfaces and I hope to do more with the product.
