One of Carlson's many tools is its Mapcheck routine. Provides a really nice closure report. BUT it seems that many people have problems using it, so here's a list of things that I have found that make it work like a champ. I'm CDO (that's the sane as OCD, but with the letters in their proper order) so my methods may seem like overkill to some, but they work.
1) Keep It Simple! Copy your boundary line over to one side of your drawing so you know that the lines you select are the ones you meant to use. Change it to layer 0 (zero).
2) Set your label style to simplex or romans. Nothing fancy.
3) If your labels overwrite the polyline, that may cause an error, so under you annotation settings, set the size to a really small one (0.04 works in most cases). Should you still get text crossing that line, just move it out of the way.
4) Now to the Survey 2016 (AutoCAD-Intellicad version) issues. In 2016 you can use mtext for your label if you want to. When labeling the lines you now can select to put commas in their proper place in larger numbers. Do any of this when labeling your main drawing, but NOT when preparing to label the figure for Mapcheck. BE SURE TO UNCHECK THE "ADD COMMAS TO NUMBERS" BOX BEFORE ADDING THE LABELS TO THE POLY FOR MAPCHECK. For some reason Mapcheck will not read any numbers before a comma.
Yes, these are extra CDO steps, but they will keep you from messing up your main drawing and they will insure that your mapcheck works properly.
I have not checked this on my copy of Carlson Survey 2016 OEM yet, but I believe that I will find the same bug there also.
Carlson is aware of this issue (Brian figured it out) and a fix is in the works.
