Well, I've got a couple questions for those
who are very familiar with contour mapping
using Carlson Survey.

My project of the day is to get a map made
where the client needs areas of slopes greater than 1:4 and 1:3
defined graphically.

Does Carlson Survey have the ability to display such areas by an automated process?

I am completely new to this, however I have watched a few videos.

The area is very small 200'X200' but I believe I need to add more
than a few break lines in order for the contours to map correctly.

I have created a 3D Shrinkwrap, but when I run 3D polylines along the breaks,
it does not seem to grab the elevations at each node/turn, just the end points,
which seems line it will be a problem.

Am I missing something here?

Finally

When I go to Triangulate and Contour, it asks to select the area to contour and that area to exclude, but then it promps for a point range.
It would be easier to turn off points that I don't want to use instead
of sit with a pencil to figure out all the point numbers I don't want to
be included.

I can't see how to get around this point range request, I see no "pick" option.

Am I missing a way where I can just select the area I want to contour, with
points turned off not being utilized?

go to triangulate and Countour
Selection check 3d polylines
uncheck carlson points ans file from .
make sure your poly lines are in fact 3d

There is a slope analysis in there but have not used it .

go to inquiry and turn on the inspector and draw some 3d polylines perpindicular to the slopes list the line with the drawing inspector it will tell you the slope . this would be pretty quick .
