What is the method to insert a north arrow (that points correctly and knows what scale it is) and

to insert a graphics scale that knows what scale it should be?

Thanks,

Steve (C3d 2010)

For the north arrow do a Google search for Annotative blocks. When you create one of these blocks you size it to match the way it should look at 1:1 scale. If you insert it with annotative scaling turned on then the block will automatically adjust it's size to suit the current drawing scale.

For the graphics scale bar you would likely need a Dynamic Block. My search found this link which points you to samples that come with your installation.

Thanks Mapmaker,

It's hard to believe there is no built-in automated way to this, as there has been in other software for the past 20+ years.
