Hi all, Newly registered, have a question...
I have been tasked with deploying digital versions of our QC forms as PDFs, in order to utilize iPads in the field as much as possible.
Some of these forms have been exported from Excel, which is fine, visually, but of course none of the formulas come over, and have to be hashed together using the Acrobat Javascript implementation.
This has worked out for the most part, as a lot of it is simple adding and subtracting.
HOWEVER.
One of our forms is used to check the calibration of our total stations, and so this simple calculation becomes a bit awkward to implement in Acrobat...
Anyone out there have any clues on how I might calc the difference between two angles(deg-min-sec)? Using only the built in Javascript of course.
Thanks for any light you can shed!
Josh
Sorry,
no javascript experience here ... and no tablets either.
but why do you need to transform all documents to Pdf, are there no office-apps that handle locking of cells and limit user input?
Chr.
I suppose there are, but Acrobat is supposedly x-platform, I guess they are set on having something as universally accessible as possible.
Anyhow, mine is not to wonder why, mine is but to do or etc. etc.
I'm learning a lot about creating forms though - it beats playing in the mud.
From what I've seen so far, I'll have to use a JS to convert to decimal degrees, calc, and convert back for the output.
or maybe they should do it manually...
or we could leave it as an excel sheet. Bah.
Thanks Anyhow!
If no one answers your question here........a rarity..... try going to a site called theswamp.org . BUNCH of computer smarties over there. There only problem is that they think AutoCAD Civil 3D is cool. That can be overlooked if needs be. 😛
I don't have an iPad but try this out and see if it works. I don't convert back out of decimal degrees here (it's late) but it compute the difference between two HH:MM:SS angles.. rough, but it's a starting point for you.
Why not upload a simple set review raw file ?
Who, besides the survey dept., needs a copy of this ?
Thank you very much-if I had soem internet points I would give you a thousand!

That is a good point, however, I'm stuck doing it this way for now...but I 'm going to suggest that.
Thank you
JP
