passed away earlier today, November 30, 2016.

Please keep Ann and the entire Besch family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Surveying lost a truly great champion today, and he will be missed.

Thomas "Mike" M. Besch

Mike Besch, age 71, passed away suddenly on November 30, 2016.

Mike was a Professor Emeritus of Surveying and Mapping at the University of Akron and a Chief Warrant Officer 4, U.S. Army, Retired, with 28 years' service from Vietnam to Desert Storm. He was an active member of Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio, the Surveyors Historical Society and several veterans' organizations.

Mike was fully committed to his country and to developing soldiers, students and surveyors who would serve their communities with intelligence and integrity.

He was preceded in death by parents, Esther and Donald Besch and Thomas Heflin Coan; and brother, Donald Besch.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Ann Besch; children, A.J. Miano, MeLynda Besch, and Ray (Beth) Besch; grandchildren, Cheyanne, Christopher and Reid Besch; and cousins, Nancy (Doug) Sellers, Billie Jean (Willie) Williams and Julie (John) Beard. He is also missed by Ann's mother, Mary Lou Salladay; sister, Sue (Bob) Worstall; brother, Bob Salladay; sister-in-law, Colleen Salladay; nephews, Brad, Jimmy and Nick Salladay and Scott Worstall; niece, Chelsea Worstall; dogs, Sugar and Charlie; and many cousins and friends.

Calling hours 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church.
