The above equation is a "reformulated Feynman diagrams into the operator language."

The article goes on into a math word salad I can't seem to follow. The equation was from a physicist and friend of Feynman who passed this week.?ÿ

I first heard of Freeman Dyson probably in the very late 1960's or very early 1970's.

By 1974 during a class in astrophysics our professor noticing the novel Ringworld on one of the students desks went on most of an hour lecture about the man, some of his hypothesis, his thought experiments, including Dyson Spheres, or Dyson Swarms.

Some people seem to have been on the stage and consequential my entire lifetime, Queen Elizabeth has been queen since just before I was born, Freeman Dyson had been a thinker, scientific pioneer, mathematician, theoretical physicist on the cutting edge just as long.?ÿ

SWMBO and I were out to an early dinner last evening, and between the sports shows on the many TV's a news picture flashed up and one of the other teachers remarked that it was Dyson, the crawl explained that he passed and we gave him a toast. I wasn't the only one there who understood what the world lost.?ÿ

RIP Freeman Dyson, a life well lived!!!!

Sad news indeed.?ÿ He dedicated his life to deep thinking and good causes. He was the main one who tied Feynman's innovations to the existing body of knowledge.

Outside the scientific community he was an advisor to our leaders and helped convey the gravity of the nuclear standoff, always a strong voice for arms reduction..

I once drove two hours in a snowstorm to hear him speak. Nearly wrecked on the way home, but recovered and arrived safely. One of the greatest men I have had the opportunity to be in the presence of.

How do you compare the feasibility of colonizing Mars to anything in our history? Not an assignment I would feel comfortable tackling.

In one of Dyson's books he compares to the establishment of a New England colony and to the Mormon migration to Utah.?ÿ He assembles several measures such as investment per person, duration or before self-sufficiency, weight of supplies per person, etc.?ÿ Novel thinking.

@bill93

It's cool that you went to one of his speeches. I'm not one to do that, but he would have been at the top of my list.
