Received the following message from Jim Martin at Griner and Schmitz today.

Last Friday afternoon, Griner and Schmitz, the entire Midwest surveying community, and me personally lost a great friend. Aaron Newman passed away of a sudden heart attack while camping with his family and friends. Aaron defined what it means to be a good human being - a loving husband, a dedicated father, a loyal friend, a humble servant of God, and a strong patriot. If you used a Carlson product then you have probably talked to or met Aaron - he has been the region's Carlson representative for many years. His willingness to always help and his thorough knowledge of products and field work has greatly contributed not only to our success but to many of your successes as well. You could always count on Aaron to answer his phone and solve your problem. I personally enjoyed spending time with Aaron and his family. His smile was always genuine and usually accompanied a mischievous twinkle in eye. He was my dinner and drinking partner at almost every Missouri and Kansas state show.

Aaron leaves behind a wonderful family - wife Renee, whom he loved with all his heart and two children, Dalton and Dakota, who were the light of his world. Every conversation with Aaron usually involved him bragging on his family's accomplishments. He was a very proud papa.

A memorial account has been set up at Arvest Bank is Fayetville, AR for Dalton and Dakota's education. A contribution to this fund will be simple yet powerful way to honor Aaron and say "Thank You" for all he has done. Griner and Schmitz will be making a sizable donation and we encourage you to do the same. We will send out more details regarding this account as soon as we have them.

Griner and Schmitz will be closed at 12:00 on Tuesday and all day Wednesday so we can attend Aaron's service.

Please keep Aaron's family in your thoughts and prayers.

That is horrible news. I am sure I crossed paths with him at the many conventions I have attended. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with his family.

I completely agree with this. Aaron was really good at his job, but I'm sure he would say his greatest accomplishment was his children. I will really miss our conversations that we had whenever we crossed paths. They were not about surveying, software or work, but about our children and life in general.

Until we meet again my friend.

He was not very old at all, if I am thinking of the right person. So sad.

I agree Lee. I'm 42. I lost a good friend a few years ago unexpectedly that was our high school class president. It opened my eyes to start taking better care of myself.

He does look familiar. I am sure I spoke to him in the past.
