Pat was one of the nicest guys I ever had the pleasure of working with in my career.?ÿ I first met Pat back in the early to mid '80s, when we were both chainmen working for Terra Surveying Company in Houston.?ÿ I was ecstatic for him when he earned his license, as he had truly worked his way up the ladder, yet always stayed humble.?ÿ He was the kind of guy who would jump in the back of the pickup even when he was the IM, and always pitched in to help when he could have gotten away with guarding the instrument or sitting in the truck taking notes.?ÿ Our paths crossed many times over the years, as we both, among others, kept returning to work at Terra.?ÿ I last saw Pat around the turn of the century before I left Texas for Indiana, and I have nothing but regret that I didn't work harder to stay in touch with him.
Even more than remembering Pat as a good surveyor, I remember him as a loving husband to his late wife Becky, and as a doting father to his daughter Kristin.?ÿ Becky and Kristin were Pat's life.?ÿ I can still see the huge smile on his face when he would bring Kristin to the office when she was a little girl.?ÿ That smile was Pat.?ÿ It was always there.?ÿ Even when things would get tense, or there would be office drama, or personalities clashing, Pat's smile and gentle laugh were there, and I will always remember both.
I will miss my brother in Christ.
