I found a hand written description in a file that was done by an old party chief now deceased. RIP my friend.
This station description has been prepared by _____ aka the Gugar, pronounced Goo (as in baby talk) GRRRR (as in tiger talk).
To reach this station from the intersection of US Highway xx and Co. Rd. yyy on the south side of the rustic village of Nedden proceed westerly along said US Highway a distance of 4.0 mi. (If you desire this in KM's convert it yourself as I am a describer not a mathematician).
Now my friend, assuming you have not screwed up this leg of your journey you will find yourself at the intersection of US Highway xx and ZZ Ave. If you are still pointed west turn LT. onto ZZZ Ave. If for some ungodly reason you did a 180 and are pointed east turn RT. onto ZZZ Ave.
Let us continue our trek by proceeding southerly along ZZZ Ave., a gravel road, a distance of 1.7 mi. (For KM see note above) to the intersection of ZZZ Ave. and 999th St. Whilst traveling this portion of your trip take note of the scenic splendor which is unfolding before your eyes. i.e. the quaint little wooden bridge over that creek where perhaps in days of yore barefoot feet once waded. The weathered, now vacant farm house who's roof and walls once afforded protection for those within but now lets in the very elements they once repelled. Perhaps this was once a home wherein the young eagerly awaited the future and the old simply waited.
ENOUGH! We have to find that oft elusive station. Turn RT. onto 999th., a gravel road, and proceed westerly a distance of 0.15 mi. to the station on the LT. A rather steep incline leads to the top of the backslope where the station is located. (Not to worry with a little perseverance you will make it).
If you are now occupying this point congratulations. If not, tough shet. I have done everything but take you by the hand and lead you to it and like I said before, I'm a describer, not a baby sitter.
The End
That was great! I'd have liked to have worked with that smart-a$$! 🙂
Keep searching. I bet he did something like that more than once.
Thanks for sharing.
Wow! That was fantastic!
Funny as all get out!
We rarely took time to add such dimension, and color to our field books.
