"Hi all,
I just wanted to inform you that Max Schumann RPLS/LSLS #137 passed away Saturday night. Mr. Schumann was part of TSPS Chapter 10 and I'm not sure how many of you had the pleasure of meeting him. If you didn't you missed out on a great man. Max was the oldest active RPLS and is going to missed sorely in the profession. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Cy Turner"
To my knowledge, Max was past 90 and the oldest active surveyor in the state of Texas. Andy Nold worked for his company in recent history and knows him, whereas I only know "OF" him.
🙁
Actually, Sam Howell next door in my hometown of Odessa had a year or two on Mr. Schumann, who was 89. Mr. Schumann had the lowest number. But, I think the first hundred or so numbers were given out at the same time when the surveyor registration act took effect in Texas, so the actual number of the registration doesn't mean much other than anybody with a 3 digit number certainly gets my respect and attention, having been around for a long time. I think Mr. Howell is in partial retirement but his license is current.
Both Mr. Howell and Mr Schumann are also Texas LSLS, so that roster just declined by 1.
