Seems like he was a native of Jasper, AL.
I met his brother when I was a teenager at church camp.
The brother owned the campground. Can't remember his name, though.

The story said he was born in Fairfield, a suburb of Birmingham, and grew up in Jasper. This is the first I had heard about Fairfield. His father probably worked for U.S. Steel.
