Back close to 2 yrs ago, I got a tick bite, that gave me a load of tick fever, lymes, and all. I could not work. I spent 3 mos in bed. Drove my family nuts. They saw that I was very frustrated, and could not work. So, my family went camping, and invited me. (I could not help much) I enjoyed the camping. Well, we camped on RE's land, down on the Caddo River. Ron, was a great fellow, who let us come. I cannot remember a time, that I visited RE, that his face did not brighten, to see us.
Well, while we camped, we came up and visited RE, and my little daughter that I was carrying, KICKED a piece of Art work, in his house, that was an Italian glass eagle. It was worth some $7500 dollars. It fell off it's display stand, and broke I told him, I'd do payments. It was a one of a kind, and could not be replaced. My daughter was just a little gal, and did not know better. She was around a year old. Still in diapers.

RE said: "You are going to just have to accept forgiveness" You cannot pay for it. (I tell this story, because that's what RE was like.
RE Passed last week. He was 84.
At the memorial service, his widow told this story:

"It was Halloween. We love the kids, so we'd always load up with candy, and give it away, to the kids. As it got late, I told RE that I was going to go take a shower, and would he mind watching for any more kids? He agreed, and off I went to the shower. RE used to call me affectionately "The New York Bag Lady". So, I went to the bathroom, turned on the water, and put on a "New York Bag Lady outfit." Complete, with a hat. But, nothing on, under it. I snuck out the back door, and came slowly up the front walk, and rang the bell, I had my hat pulled down, and said "Trick or Treat?" He said "Aren't you a bit old to be out trick or treating? I opened up the front, and said "IT's TREAT!" well, that was the end of trick or treating, and we turned off the lights!"
She told this at The memorial. It was a shambles after that. JUST LIKE RE would have liked. They passed the microphone around, and every one told stories.
A great way to have a memorial service. RE would have loved it.

RIP RE.

I tip my hat to RE

Nate

Both RE and his wife sound like my kind of people.

When the wife pulled that stunt, he probably didn't recognize her, even after the unveiling. That's why the night was so memorable.
