What is everyone using as a geographical database to track project location and information?

Can't speak for everyone, but we use Google Earth. Just drop a placemark on the project location.

Second Google Earth. We use it for a lot of things, it is more powerful than it looks.

I also use GE, but I find the interface pretty klunky. Having to scroll through hundreds of job numbers in the left pane can be tedious, and there's no way to select multiple items that I've found -- everything has to be handled one-at-a-time. That makes reordering items an onerous task.

Someone has probably produced a better interface that can generate a KML, but I've not looked for it.

Thanks for the replies. We are currently using GE as well, but like previously stated you can only handle item at a time. I've also found that it moves really slow when you have 500+ miles of polylines/paths with attributes. I've comsiders moving just to the place mark but having the boundary drawn in already is handy at least for viewing purpsoses

I use Manifold GIS
I've all the cadastral, streams, roads included and its good. (IMO) .
I have many of my RTK surveys loaded.

I've been playing around with a database on my Android tablet.
Type in a location field the address and it finds itself, or just go to the map and drop a pin where needed.
Database can be interrogated for any entries.
Still a work in progress.

Get the Google Earth Pro version, it has a polygon tool that will quickly do area calculations. Fill out a form and they will send you a key for FREE.

It works on one of my computers and not the other.......
