I bought two units a few months back and so far have been pleased with the reliability. I bought them primarily for elevation certificate preparation. Nothing like having to run a level loop for 3 hours. My question is this...
On a 2 hour observation I can upload to opus and get a solution back in a matter of minutes. This happens the same day within a few hours of the observation. On rapid static I have to wait until after midnight to upload and get an opus solution. Oh I can upload a rapid static obs the same day but I only get error reports returned. The same rinex file uploaded the following day brings back a solution within minutes.
Is this normal?
Quite normal. I get the same thing. I believe it has to do with lack of availability of data from the multiple CORS required for OPUS-RS.
It is not receiver specific. My GRX1 and HiPer V's do it as well.
Wait a day. It work then
I have the same issues with my two OPUS X90 receivers as well as my two Topcon Hipers.
I have started running 2 hour sessions for most of my elevation work. I use OPUS RS as a blunder check when doing horizontal control.
I have not done it yet, but you can always split the 2 hour files up into smaller files and use OPUS RS for additional data analyis.
And it is location dependent too. If you are surrounded by hourly CORS stations, then there is a really good chance that the OPUS-RS solution will be available quickly.
What is happening is:
"OPUS-RS needs more nearby CORS available than OPUS-Static (which only needs 3 stations and for static they don't need to be that near.)"
So the Static solution needs only 3 stations and they can be much farther away.
In some areas, like the center of Michigan for example where there is literally a hourly reporting CORS station on every corner in every town (okay, maybe I am exaggerating a little bit,) OPUS-RS is a dream come true.
Other places, like Utah or Wyoming for example, not-so-much.
Thanks for purchasing a X90-OPUS! Hopefully it is serving you well.
Mark
Speaking from the Big Open, in use static for "rough" delegation control, but not OPUS, that's too rough;-)
