I spent the last two weeks on the coast of South Carolina.?ÿ While at Huntington Beach State Park I was out for a walk one morning and came across this little fellow crossed the sidewalk ahead of me.?ÿ

My father had a pet gator for 10+ years.?ÿ One of my uncles had caught him (her?) as he hatched and brought him to my father.?ÿ The gator spent the first year of his life in a mop bucket being fed crickets and flies.?ÿ When my father completed his pond he turned the gator, appropriately named Allie, loose in the pond.?ÿ My father could sit on his front porch and holler "Allie", the gator's head would pop up, he would swim to the shore and my father would feed hid him some chicken or fish.?ÿ When he got too big (+/- 10 feet) my mother said he had to go.?ÿ My father called the Department on Natural Resources to come get him.?ÿ They came out, my father called the gator up, they caught him and took him away to another farm where a fellow had trouble with snakes.?ÿ Gator in - snakes gone.

That reminds me of Betty White's character in the movie, Lake Placid.

The gator spent the first year of his life in a mop bucket being fed crickets and flies.

If the gator could snap up flies and roaches, like lizards do, that could be helpful.
