Sitting here with the family eating hot dogs and beans with a good batch of sweet corn. My youngest daughters 7 and 11 have been indoctrinated with some old Gomer Pyle shows. ?ÿMy mother in law bought the first couple seasons for me when I was away from my family for a year working. Now I had a chance to show them to the girls. So once a week we will watch a few and the girls liked them so much the wifey bought a new season for us. What fun.?ÿ
sgt carter ƒ??I canƒ??t hear youƒ? gomer ƒ??weellll gollyƒ? shazam?ÿ

@holy-cow yes sir. What a show. It is so hard to find something today that is truly family friendly and just pure entertainment. Funny clean and even the young kids can laugh.

An episode we watched about a month ago on METV had Gomer returning from some assignment with a sack full of ripe tomatoes.?ÿ A farmer, played by Denver Pyle, and his wife lived on what Sgt. Carter thought was part of the base.?ÿ Eventually, a map was presented.?ÿ Gomer got to show Sgt. Carter that he had the map upside down.

BTW, Denver Pyle has 263 acting credits listed for his life's work.?ÿ Nearly all of them being in family-friendly type shows.?ÿ Most people think of his as Uncle Jesse in The Dukes of Hazzard.

@holy-cow He was a great actor as well. Denver Pyle. He pops up in Gunsmoke and other westerns. Dukes of hazard. probably my first love was daisy duke lol as a young man. I had to sneak to watch it because my mom didnƒ??t think she dressed very lady like. But as long as my step dad watched and I didnƒ??t tell on him he would not tell on me lol.?ÿ

Gomer Pyle Aka Jim Neighbors was always funny even on the old Andy Griffith show. Him and Barney Fife. Lol. And Goober . The episode we watched last night Goober showed up on Gomer Pyle.?ÿ

That's why this old fart likes any tv show/movie in black and white. No absurd graphics; murder/rape/shootings/gore etc. Some of you know what I'm talking about. ?????ÿ

Oh I never grew up. I still like to watch the same old shows from my childhood. Bonanza, The Virginian, Gunsmoke, Gomer Pyle, The Rifle Man , Wagon Train, etc. I remember watching Green Acres with my mom on Friday nights late as she came home from work. Then mash and Gunsmoke. The. Off to bed because she was watching Mels diner and golden girls and said i didnƒ??t need to watch those. If I could work half as good as my mom I would be something. She worked double shifts at Kelloggs in Memphis 12 to 16 hr days. 33 years picking up 50# bags of oats and such. Then kept us boys fed and roof over our heads. Maintained a large garden helped with hay small square bales. Firewood and whatever else needed doing. ?ÿThey donƒ??t make em like that anymore hardly. My wife now has become a shining example for my daughters. She helps me on the farm. Plus however she does it keeps everything going because i can no way keep track of everything she can do. I am blessed beyond what I deserve. One of these days I hope to build or buy her dream home. Set aside 10 to 20 acres for her wild flower gardens. Now she has a few 8x8 areas. Loves teaching the girls about monarch butterflies and birds and such.?ÿ

Of all the things I did not know about Jim Nabors, finding out he was a Sylacaugan was the most outstanding.?ÿ (let's see if the auto-censor has a problem with that term)?ÿ The term spade-jawed was a new one to me. (that one flew under the radar)

Lily Munster (Yvonne de Carlo) was a major hottie back in my Dad's day.?ÿ Check her out in some of her early movies and TV shows.

@holy-cow I was told if I kept looking at girls with bulging eyes I wood go blind. ?ÿThe things parents tell their kids lol. Took a while for this slow boy to understand I would fight the looking the rest of my life. I blame it on a quick neck reflex now so the wife donƒ??t slap me to hard. Lol

@olemanriver?ÿ

A little known fact.?ÿ Girls with bulging eyes probably have a thyroid condition known as Graves' disease.
