For the last 3 years, I've had a company truck, so I don't put many miles on my personal vehicle.?ÿ In fact, in late June I bought a 2010 Dodge Dakota with 110,000 miles on it.?ÿ Since then I've put 1500 miles on it, and that includes 2 round trips to Nashville which is 250 miles per trip.?ÿ This truck has an actual key to open the door and insert into the ignition switch.?ÿ It doesn't have a compute screen on the console.?ÿ I expect it to last me over a decade.
A few months ago the boss was talking about all this new great technology in vehicles.?ÿ I'm not a fan.?ÿ I told him that soon, maybe in 5 years, maybe in 10, you will get in your vehicle and a voice will tell you, "You've been charged with X crime.?ÿ You are being driven directly to jail where you will be arrested."?ÿ Nope, not for me.
I have a F350 2021. I have not bought or downloaded the forescan program but it will allow you to do many things. The first 2 days i disabled the nanny features. I disabled the seat belt alarm chime. I wear my seat belt on all roads. I do not wear my seatbelt when I am picking up hay checking fences cows etc. i hate turning the key and all doors lock Disabled. I hate putting truck in gear and doors lock disabled. Leave a Trimble s6 sitting in the back seat close and lock doors truck will honk as if i left a child. Disabled. I have it set up now that on my key i press once it locks all doors no honk. Once to unlock all doors. ?ÿNo seat belt warning. ?ÿNo beeping when i have door open and truck is in gear. It does tell me on dash. I do have a app ford pass that allows me to crank truck and unlock or lock doors remotely. My fob has a flip out key so it still goes in and turns to crank. The child thing was a tough one to figure out in the manual. But i am sure it is a good thing for some but my kids are old enough its not a hazard anymore. But chainsaw or tool bag etc all weighs about the same as a small child so it was annoying. The other annoying thing is alarm. It has perimeter only or all so a bug can fly and set it off inside. I disabled it as well. Now perimeter has only got me once. I had hooked up the trailer and parked truck out in pasture close to road. Woke up early to move equipment forgot key to truck in house. Drove tractor up on trailer and alarm goes off. This is before the rooster crows. Neighbors were not happy. So solution. I don??t lock doors. Lol. For fords f series forscan is the way to go from what i read on another forum. But i have a simple work truck and was able to disable all the nanny alarms and door chimes from just the owners manual.?ÿ
