I am looking for an inexpensive (free would be good, but am certainly not opposed to paying for it, IF I get what I want), easy to use, fairly simple (not with ALL the 'bells and whistles' that are known to man, . . .
to convert my old VCR tapes to DVD's.
There arre several places that will do it for $20 a tape, BUT these are mostly tapes of old tv programs and junk - not worth that kind of money.
Any suggestions?
thanx

Probably the best and cheapest solution. I own it, and works great. You can even record your DVR shows, but you have to play them back in their entirety just like you would a VHS. It connects to the computer via USB, and the adapter plugs into AVI (Audio-Video Input) wires or a combination of Audio and S-video (I use the latter).
You don't even have to connect the VHS player to a TV. The program will show the video as it plays. You have the option to mute it while it plays too.
+1!!!!! When recording on dvd players became an option I began converting tapes to dvd by hooking the vcr up to the dvd player, then hit play and record. Time consuming and just plain sucked!
