Some of Mrs. File's most excellent beef stew- last of the 1/4 beef we bought from a rancher friend, fresh carrots ( home grown) and new potatoes- farmers market, home -dried tomatoes, rice flour, quinoa, lentils- too good for the likes of y'all, but Juuust right for me! :grinning:

Sounds delicious but it's not beef stew weather here. Upper 80s now and nineties for the rest of the week.
Got to wait another few months for beef stew.
Still grillin and chilling
But
Sounds goods with a little wild rice instead of the quinoa

Adopted File has the gluten issues, Mrs. File's patience and dietary work with him has resolved A Bunch of physical issues he had when he came to us....
as for me, I only had 1 bowl of stew...

it's only 53^ here today and overcast. not prime stew weather, but after 35 years of marriage, I'm trained to take what's in the fridge... 🙂

the little Rubbermaid container says it's 9.5 ounces, so it wasn't a mongo sized bowl...

You might point out to Kent that 9.5 ounces is a lot more in Texas than in other parts of the country. Perhaps including a conversion factor would help him understand exactly how much you had. Saying it wasn't a "mongo" sized bowl doesn't necessarily help either, as "Mongo-size" needs the same conversion factor.

It's "grande" in Texas, with the Spanish heritage and all.
No need for conversion if you use that.

Well, since you used the plural for the various ingredients, I assumed that meant that your helping had more than one in it. How were we supposed to know that "fresh carrots ( home grown) and new potatoes- farmers market, home -dried tomatoes, rice flour, quinoa, lentils" really meant perhaps a tiny piece or two of a carrot and a new potato. I just assumed that the "lentils" was a typo since nobody would put lentils in beef stew, right?

I was not aware there was a season for stew and for chili for that matter. Gotta have a frito pie regularly and every few weeks I fix up a crockpot stew.

They are made year round here.

That and an iron skillet cornbread practically makes it a complete meal.

Add some pickled okra and it's on.

sounds about perfect for today,,,,actually spit a bit of snow at me yesterday; and at lower elevation.

When it's hot year round, you learn to eat chili or stew year round. And if it tastes as good as that sounded, you have another helping! And I dunno, bout mongo bowl, I thought "Mongo Straight"! :p
