Fixin' to head down the highway to the cabin in Anchor Point, with a stop at the Homer Recorders office to finalize my property reconveyance (yay! paid off!) Anyhoots, 300 miles each way and I want to leave the plow on my F250 (diesel, 4x4). Instructions say to remove the plow and put it in the back of the truck when traveling long distances. Yeah, riiiiight! 800# of steel, just toss it in the back! I'm thinking of locking it in place (two spots to do it) then using a couple of heavy duty "bungees" to tighten things up. (or maybe a come-along?)What say youz? Any thoughts?

For you southern folks, bet ya wish ya had one right about now, eh!?

Lots of guys just leave them on all winter around here. I'm sure they are driving a couple thousand miles without taking them off.

I'm guessing the combination of high speeds and that extra weight puts excessive dynamic loads on critical parts of the vehicle and the attaching mechanisms. The extra weight alone is bad on springs, shocks, tierod ends and such.

@ Perry, I'm thinking the same way essentially, but this would be a good 4 hrs constant, along some pieces of crappy road (frost heaves and such) I'll keep my speed down under 65. Thats why I was thinking of something to make it more rigid with some "give"

@ Holy Cow. I do have dual shocks and overload springs (front and rear), but I know what you're saying, that is a long time putting stress on the parts. Last thing I need is the dang plow falling off at 65! 🙁
