One thing that used to give me a bad attitude really fast is when the people I worked for would hire just anyone to fill in as what was traditionally called the rodman position, but that person created way more work for me (not just the "oh, things slow down a bit as we train to get up to speed", but just constant frustrating extra work to get the job done).
That one gets me as well when the company just wants me to hire a 'helper/rodman' with zero experience so they can pay them the bare minimum and I haven't the time or patience working as a one man crew to bring them up to speed while juggling all the other supervisor roles. Half our time is in the office so now I have a helper that doesn't understand the basics that I can keep busy in the office to help us get out the door and I can only ask them to sharpen so many pencils.

Of course this was in the day of the three (or four) man crew, but when hiring a rodman I preferred one with no experience.?ÿ That way I didn't have to break him of someone else's bad habits.
