Is anyone else getitng feedback from clients that FEMA is requesting photos from foundation to peak of roof to be included on the certificate. We already supply front, rear, side views, mechanicals, & vents. However at times parcels are tight and we can get the whole house in the photo.
Yeah, I've had a couple kicked back for that reason. In one case, it was 3 story townhome with a fenced back yard that was only 10' deep, and impossible to get a view of the back of the building. I took several pics up and down the back of the building and "mosaic'ed" them together as best I could, then went to the end of the building and took a view down the back of the entire building, and that passed. Seems like the instructions the underwriter gets for pics are more detailed than what is on the el cert.
My gut is it's the insurance people, NOT FEMA, trying to make you jump through their hoops to save them a trip. Sorry, but when I've asked for documentation the FEMA needs that level of detail, they can't back up the claim.
Maybe I'm a jerk.. (ok, there's a good chance of that)... but unless the instructions say otherwise, I get to decide what's in my pics. If they need more for their internal processes, that's on them.
:good: I'm glad I'm not he only one that feels this way. All the EC states is 2 photos included and to label the "side" of the structure in the photo.
I just did one last week and I couldn't get a full framed house. I went around the property to the creek and still had trouble so I stood on the running boards and snapped a photo where the fence block the very bottom of the house. I'm not going back to take another photo.
My best estimate is they want a couple of photos for identification purposes only. If they were critical photos, they would designate that the photo be of a certain side where they needed to see a specific requirement.. IE LAG or HAG or the like.
NEW** VENT PHOTO****Photos on the FEMA Elevation Certificate
As I read the instructions on the top of the new and improved "Building Photographs" sheet we now MUST add a photo(s) of the vent(s). "When applicable, photographs must show the foundation with representative examples of the flood openings or vents."

The key being "flood" openings.
