It seems like more and more that our privacy online is being eroded and our activity is being tracked increasingly by IT corporations. For example I would like to upgrade to Windows 10 but the recent talk of privacy issues is concerning. I have to use windows for Carlson and other software but I am thinking of making a few changes and was considering the following-

Operating system-Use Linux Mint as much as possible. I have trialled it and it seems good.
Browser-Mozilla Firefox
Search Engine- DuckDuckGo. Still have to use Google sometimes but DDG seems ok.
Video-VIMEO
Backup-MEGA
Email-Currently using Outlook , what are some open source alternatives?
Phone-Ubuntu phone

I am typing this now on Linux Mint with Firefox browser.

I know I will still have to use Google et al sometimes.

Thoughts?

You really can't be online and be invisible, if they wan't your content, they will get it. It basically becomes a giant sentiment survey, and you get to decide on the 15-20% of the information they don't already know about you. Choose appropriately 🙂
