Although the sign says "Sacramento, CA 3073," US 50 Actually originates in the City of West Sacramento in Yolo County. This is at the US50/I80 split in West Sacramento:

The sign on the west end of US50 (there used to be a separate sign but it kept getting stolen):

The Ocean City or east end of US50:

So what the heck is there

in Ocean City, MD that is?

Never heard of it.

Of course, I'm about midway between Sacramento and Ocean City and not all that far from US 50.

Ha Dave...

I will pass the eastern terminus of route I-80 as well as route 50...I'll try and take pictures (probably not I-80)!

Ocean City is a cool spot. Warm water and miles of boardwalk. Makes Santa Cruz look like a toy boardwalk. I wake up early (especially on the East Coast) and like the walking opportunities. I could happily spend a week in Ocean City in a hotel with balcony.

We went to some hotel and they wanted 200 plus for a room but it was kind of 70s-ish tired. So I said lets keep looking. I went into the brand new Holiday Inn and asked what they had. They had a one bedroom suite for 300ish. I said I'll take it for one night. The guy said, really? He was genuinely surprised. It was pretty much a condo with living room, kitchen and bedroom. A lot of families sharing the suites on that floor. The bedroom has a balcony overlooking the ocean.
