"AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast will be able to deliver some sites and services more quickly and reliably than others for any reason," telecommunications lawyer Marvin Ammori observed even before the ruling came down. "Whim. Envy. Ignorance. Competition. Vengeance. Whatever. Or, no reason at all."
Anything that is bad for me seems to be popular with the people with very, very, very deep pockets who use those deep pockets to influence policies that impact me. Everywhere I turn, this seems to be the case. It's about like my choices for almost any sporting event. If I'm hoping so and so wins, the opponent will most definitely win.

I definitely agree, Rich, particularly when the publicly-licensed broadcast spectrum is involved. That was an incredibly bad decision in favor of the telecom giants, asking nothing in return from them.
Time to be contrary again
I'm not sure this is all bad. Why shouldn't the data hogs pay more than those that don't use extreme amounts of data?
The public can't be trusted to make choices. We make choices for them and by good they ought to be grateful for it. It's called free speech; ya get what ya can pay for.
"Who deserves the blame for this wretched combination of monopolization and profiteering by ever-larger cable and phone companies? The FCC, that's who. The agency's dereliction dates back to 2002, when under Chairman Michael Powell it reclassified cable modem services as "information services" rather than "telecommunications services," eliminating its own authority to regulate them broadly. Powell, by the way, is now the chief lobbyist in Washington for the cable TV industry, so the payoff wasn't long in coming. "

I'm thinking that it boils down to a case of "pay us a trillion dollars a year or totally disappear like an inconvenient person in the book '1984', ya see"

This is just a measure of the retardazation of our fellow man. It only works it they are.
Maybe because I'm younger I am not sick and tired, just resigned to the fact I must remain ever vigilant.
