I know it is a big nascar weekend but... I am by no means a big motor sports follower but this year I started to follow F1. I like the mercedes- mclaren group for personal reasons.
The physics are interesting. Ferrari is using the exhaust to add rear stabilization with the coreolis effect.
hats off to Austin for bringing F1 racing back to the U.S. That must have been a nice 'rush' survey project.
would have liked to make the trip but too much going on here for this week so I will get the DVR set.

Except for deciding this year's champion and it's the last race of season - it's not that big of a NASCAR deal. Sarcasm intended.

When it comes to go-carts on mega-steroids, I'll stick with Indy cars. As a kid we lived next door to a 2-time Indy 500 winner. His wife would have parties and I got to know some really big name legends. AJ Foyt was a cool guy. At least to me he was. We talked on the phone many times. Al Unser, Sr. barely had a word to say. Al Jr. was a different matter. Gordon Johncock was our neighbor but we rarely saw him around. His wife Faye sort of took me as her "little buddy". I was always helping her out. We were oft seen riding in one of the pace cars around town. It sure made me popular back in Jr. High.

As to those cars... I've heard they produce so much down force that you could turn the track upside down and they would still stick to it.

I like the aspect of the international venues of F1. Indy does attract the international drivers though.
once again, kudos to Austin for stepping up to the plate.

This past Fall, I got involved with some sports 'marketing' for the local soccer club. I found a sponsor whose family has been an autodealer here for the past 60+ years. He has a collection of Indy pace cars for sale with some from the 70s.
He made a generous donation to our club.

and one thing you can count on in life is that you will never see a Mclaren F1 (road) in my driveway 😐

great commentary.
most of the tracks that have been built for F1 recently are by the German architects. Vilke.

Jiminy H. Cricket that’s some intense footage! The “flying Scott’s” accent reminded me of Ireland, and from personal experience I can attest to the fact that that is how all the British Islanders conduct themselves behind the wheel. Even truck and bus drivers and the old guys in tweed and flat caps driving their funky farm tractors to the pub.
