I bought three new Logitech Alert 750 exterior security cameras. Great hardware, great software, clear video, and they obviously put a lot of effort and testing into the system. Only $600 total, but add another $140 for three infrared LED lights. Plus I don't know how much yet for an electrician to add two outlets to the top of the carport.

HOWEVER, the dreaded words "some assembly required," and they seem to have assumed that you are a highly skilled handyman and have already somehow figured out how to put the parts together as you follow the simple screen instructions for plugging things in.

General hint for companies like this: When you think you have it ready for the public, give a package to some of the people in the office and ask them to assemble it based upon the instructions provided. You might learn something.

Over Thanksgiving we had one of our rigs broken into and some tribrachs were taken. After that I ordered 3 Foscam security cameras for inside the office. I didn't want to mess around with trying to wire power to exterior cameras, particularly since we don't own the building.

The 3 cameras and extra were about $300. The are wireless and infrared with motion activation as well. It a little bit to get them hooked into the router, but nothing to bad. It's nice because they have timers so that they send me emails to at least 3 different addresses if anything activates them after hours. They also have the capability to be logged into from any pc with internet access, but I have not gone through that yet.

Helps me sleep a bit better!
