I just finished a nearly 50 acre survey and I had been kicking myself because.....well.....it was a bit more complex than I anticipated and I began to feel like I should have charged more. So I had been inwardly cussing and kicking myself for my goober. I was actually concerned I wouldn't get it because I thought I priced it kinda high but when the folks didn't bat an eye at the price I immediately thought "d@mmit I left some money on the table". But I got over it and finished it and told myself that there will be future opportunities to recoup some of the money plus I work pretty much solo and didn't have to pay others so all told it was pretty darned good.
Well anyway just as I was finishing up and handed the client his survey and he handed me a check and I answered his questions about which local attorney to use for the land transfer he said "I have something for you". He brought me 200 cleaned and vacuum sealed bobwhite quail that he had shot.
Wow! Nice bonus. I have always felt to some degree that money is quite common and I can always earn more.
Life isn't always gonna turn out like you plan. Gotta take the good with the bad. Never know when you're gonna take extra lumps or get a nice benefit you didn't expect.
Good story...
