"It's Time for Microsoft to Fix the Windows 7 Update Slowdowns"
perhaps helpful to some, possibly some miss-information, but I feel it is worth reading.

I actually had not noticed any significant slowdown of win 7 updates.
And honestly, my fat old self would literally jump for joy if updates in general would slow the heck down. I am convinced there are times I spend more time updating some darn program or other (and windows itself) than actually using the machine. The other day, I had to reboot a laptop Twice due to windows updates..... and and updates to updates...... trust me, I just wanted to get back online to this site rather than multiple reboots
