A former student of the University of Texas.
Everyone here would know his "ugly" face, but perhaps not his name.
I always thought he should have received the Best Actor Academy Award for his role as "Tuco" in "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" as he was outstansing, especially for a guy from Brooklyn!
There is an annual Tennessee Williams Festival in New Orleans in the Spring.
He would attend the festival frequently as a panel member, do readings and as a guest. His presence aided the popularity of the event. I thought that he was appearing there only a few years ago as an annual honored guest.
His work in the Rose Tattoo, Camino Real and Baby Doll endeared him to many.
The Williams festival conducts panel discussions, presents a Williams play, presents a new play from a competition event and other doings.
One of the most popular doings is the STELLA yelling event from participants to a balcony in Jackson Square where all participants go over the top to win.
Il buono, il brutto y il cattivo
I always like his "Ugly" character Tuco. I guess since "Bad" Lee Van Cleef has left us, and now Wallach is gone, the only one left is Blondie. "Good" has survived to ride away alone...as it should be in a cheap western.
