are there any Dropbox users over here?
specifically, Dropbox Sync...
I have run into an issue described here: https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/248
6/3/2016 3pm
TP222 (off site) sync stalled, the hard drive was full. I killed dropbox TP222, then I deleted all files appended (White Space Conflict) ... now there is about 6GB free space free for update to dropbox...
6/4/2016 6am
I killed dropbox on both Sager and TP1.
no other machines are syncing with dropbox
I deleted all files appended (White Space Conflict) on Sager
I deleted all files appended (White Space Conflict) on TP1
I then put Sager back on line syncing dropbox.
I waited until After Sager was fully updated and synced.
performed normal backup on Sager, and waited until dropbox indicated that it was fully updated and synced.
then on TP1 I restarted dropbox sync.
only Sager and TP1 are syncing...
after 30 minutes... 7,241 items, totaling 2.4 GB on TP1 appended (White Space Conflict)
dropbox forums, not very active, no help.
trouble ticket with dropbox: they consider fixing their Bug/flawed software a "feature request" ... "feature request" = this is not our problem, you are the only one that wants this, maybe someday someone will care about it
thanks
PS: I tried Mega Sync, it has even more issues and sync is dog slow
Never had those issues with Dropbox. Was thinking of trying Mega though but may reconsider now.
Dead Ended... after a few weeks working with them on this ongoing issue, the final word is:
(I have been a Paying dropbox customer for a few years)

Max, Jun 6, 8:33 AM PDT:Hi Peter,
Thanks for your reply.
As of right now, Dropbox is not able to save file names where the only difference is a space.
Regards,
Max

thanks for your reply
use the terms you choose. I would consider a Feature Request an enhancement.
this is actually a different situation, what I would call a Bug.
to be clear: dropbox changes my file and folder names.
those names are very important, they need to be preserved. Exactly, not
"slightly modified"
the vast majority of those file names (probably All) are generated by
application software.
When you change those names I would assume they will not be recognized
and used properly in the original application: Worthless.
dropbox changes my file and folder names... I do Not want that, ever.
besides the huge amount of files, space, and bandwidth (13,600 items,
totaling 3.9 GB) your copies serve no purpose for me.
I am willing to assist you in any way to trouble shoot this.
I am a Linux user, ext4 file format, using rsync cron for backups.
Thanks, Peter

MEGA is good, but it has limitations
Dropbox is also good, but it has different limitations.
Both companies are in serious financial trouble, either or both could fail this calendar year, or next.
That said, I have reopened my MEGA account and am using it for Some of my data, specifically that stuff that Dropbox can not backup or return to me intact.
MEGA will probably take a few more days to sync 23,934 items, totaling 13.6 GB... but that is OK, it is merely disaster recovery (if several local drives and two remote repos disappear all at the same time)
Dropbox is fast enough to keep up with the other stuff (email, current documents, etc.)
My Backup Plan does Not use "the cloud" as an essential part, it is just for convenience and further redundancy.
