Yesterday I ended a 33-year relationship with AT&T and its predecessors, porting my business line over to Sonic.net's combination voice and ADSL2+ service. I'm getting about 11Mbps download and 0.6Mbps upload, plus a bunch of voice services (voicemail, caller ID, etc.) for about $35 per month less than I was paying before. I'm still a little nervous, having been tethered to one Bell company or another for my whole life, but so far it's been an easy and fruitful switch.
Jim, I had a prospective client call to ask about having a fairly substantial height modernization project performed in your area over the next year. I have no idea why they called me, because I reminded them that I was in Texas and had too much on my schedule as it was, but I suggested that they contact you and passed along your old number. I trust that you heard from them, right?

I've had a couple of bites recently about height mod work, but they've been from past clients. If you hear from him/her again, I'd sure appreciate another referral!
Cutting The AT&T Cable..not completely though
your att and/or Bell email accounts can be still used and accessed through att/yahoo web email portals.
I still use those old accounts for some emaill activities etc..
I cut the DSL cable a year or so ago and went to Charter as ATT kept inexplicably blocking my website. Now we are in the process of changing our phones to Charter also saving several hundred a month in land line phone bills.
I just got rid of ATT as well, at least for the phones. Went to Tracfones instead. Much more manageable than ATT and a whole lot less expensive. Now if I could find an alternative to their DSL here I'd be all set. Also cut out cable TV and went to the free stuff in the air. 90% of the time its great. Don't watch that much anyway. Just tired of getting the monthly bills.
