Do cell phone batteries have "memory"? Should you wait until the battery is near dead before you charge them?

I just got a new Samsung Focus with Windows 7. This is such an efficient phone that I wish I had dropped the land line sooner.

No memory problems with the lithium batteries. Charge them up when they get low and take them off when they're charged. It usually only takes a few hours. I think most have a smart charger too so they don't get overcharged.

As tyler mentioned, the key to longevity of any battery is not overcharging. That was a question I asked when I bought my iPhone, and it has a built in smart charger to not overcharge.

As for the memory, I'm Kinda old school only charging any batteries when they're almost dead and not taking off charge until the battery is fully charged.
