The Big Ten has a total of eight bowl game appearances out of 11 teams.
Iowa has beaten Missouri 27-24
Illinois has beaten Baylor 38-14
There are 5 Big Ten games on tap today, 4 at the same time:
Northwestern - Texas Tech (12:00)
Michigan State - Alabama * (1:00)
Penn State - Florida * (1:00)
Michigan - Mississippi State * (1:30)
Wisconsin - TCU
And on January 4;
Ohio State * - Arkansas
The SEC is favored * in 3, with only Ohio State getting pollster's picks to win. I disgree 100%. Despite the Sugar Bowl's plea to allow the bad boys from Ohio State to play, I say they will lose ignobly.
Today I am rooting for any and all Big Ten teams, though it will be hard to enjoy the victories when you cannot really follow 4 games too well. At least this evening there will be no competition as Wisconsin takes on TCU in the Rose Bowl. The Wisconsin offensive line averages 42 pounds more than the TCU defensive line. This will be a major clash of football styles.
Topping off the night will be Oklahoma stomping on UConn. That game should be over early. I foresee a lot of commercial cramming in the first half for every Oklahoma score as they fear losing the second half audience to Holiday reruns.

I'll be watching Miss State vs. Michigan with my Dad. He finished at MSU in '43 then the Navy sent him to Naval Architecture school at the U of Michigan---he can't lose today!
So, how's this working out for you?
It just got to be painful to watch, after a while, ya know?
I caught the last three minutes of the Fla/Penn State game, looked to be the best of the bunch.
Sorry, to you Michiganders, better luck next year.
Not the Big Ten's day for sure.
Oh... it most certainly was NOT the Big Ten's day... 0-5..
I wonder if the Big Ten Commissioner called everybody and told them to take the day off... It sure looks like it.
Not the Big Ten's day for sure.
Too much sunshine for the Big Ten teams - maybe vacationing too much, instead of football
Rough Day For Sure
Very dissapointed in Michigan and Michigan State.
Northwestern put on a game fight without their starting quarterback.
Wisconsin with it's weight should have done some more rolling, but credit TCU with it's tenacity. Depending on how the teams look next week, TCU has a valid claim for the National Championship, especially if the unlikeable Cam Newtown beats a sloppy Oregon team.
Penn State did itself in. It is hard to call those interceptions, they looked like direct passes to the defenders with no offensive players in sight. JoePa was spitting bullets during the game and I thought for sure he was going to pull McGloin and put in Bolden at quarterback. Oh well, those freshman should make next season very credible, 2011, end of Joe's contract and an era. A bigger loss for Penn State would be Defensive Coordinator Tom Bradley taking the Pitt Head Coaching job.
Special sympathy goes out to Mike McQueary, the redhead with the headset, who stands next to Joe. Being the closest to Joe after a bad play is not a good thing. It appeared there was some misscommunication between the two.
Anyway the food was great, I supplied the snacks during the game, venison hot sticks and venison bologna chunks heated in sweet and sour sauce. Pork and sauerkraut dinner began at halftime of the Rose Bowl.
Dinner was when my nephew's daughter woke up. She is in the Easton High School marching band and they had returned home on a redeye flight. They were sheduled to leave early in the week to fly to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl Game on Thursday. Snow delayed their departure 2 days and instead of flying directly to San Diego they flew to LA and were bussed South, with no rest and recreation days before they performed. Besides the bowl parade they played on the field during halftime.
