Of course it's on the news and all about the lip-syncing.

I tend to feel that it just doesn't matter . . . who really cares . . .

But then . . . I sit and I ponder . . . and ponder

I ponder about the "real", intrinsic values of the baseball which was hit for Charlie Hustle's(forgot his name), 2000th hit . . . a milestone.

In reality, how is this ball worth more than the ball that was hit by the 2nd guy in the line up, or the baseball that was fouled by the hitter that followed?

Would it have mattered if he had actually hit his "unofficial" 2000th hit one the road, then his "official" 2000th hit in front of the hometown fans? There have been times when players were "milked", to set the stage for a hometown miracle.

I mean . . . ALL THESE BALLS were all made on an assembly-type line . . . all the same.

Unless someone specifically marked the ball, how can a person know one from another?
Well, wasn't it for the Mcguire record, that the umpires "marked", the balls? If they hadn't . . . how else would one know he/she got the right one . . . important(?) stuff!

Nonetheless, THAT baseball is worth thousands of dollars, while all the other baseballs used in that game might be worth $10?

I don't(have never), bought into this carrappp that an item can have so much value cause sometone touched it . . . and about Roger Maris's 61st homerun ball. I'll bet Roger Maris never even touched it . . . he hit it with a 3' long stick of wood . . . where's the "magical/miraculous", connection?

I'm sure I'd be willing to exploit whomever I could if I had that 2000th hit baseball, but at the same time, I'd be chuckling about anyone who was actually willing to pay big money for it . . . especially if I had a dozen more at home.

About this Beyonce', thing . . .

In a world where we place ridiculous values on inanimate objects which are in reality, one of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of like objects that if mixed together would never be discovered as being "the one", I would think that Beyonces', lip syncing would be an absolute abomination.

It shouldn't matter that what the crowd heard was probably better than had she sung it live or that she might been suffering from a sore throat, because it was "original", it was the sound that was coming out of her mouth at the same time while people were there . . . listening.

Personally, I could've really enjoyed Beyonce' lipsyncing Ethel Merman singing Frank Zappa's "My guitar want's to kill your mamma", studio version of the song.

I don't understand how people, in general think certain other things of no value, have great values for no good reason, but then can't understand why someone wouldn't be upset over someone not actually performing an act that they are attempting to impress upon people that they are doing?

. . . in hindsite, this Byonce' thing should be a really, really big deal . . . although I couldn't care less . . .

Beyonce' Poll

You're right John, not fair for me to choose the type of paddle, perhaps we should have a poll to decide, any good ideas?

Beyonce' Poll

Maybe these would work...

Beyonce' Poll

A huge amount of what we listen to on TV and in movies is not open microphone. Think of that the next time you are watching two people walking down a busy street in a 40 mph gale and they sound as if they are standing 3 feet apart in a sound booth.

We Need A Vote On Who Renders Said Punishment

Applicants require a written waiver from their significant other.

To be fair to those protecting America that means we include same sex military spouses.

Second through last places get to watch.

My only significant other is my cat and I don't think he would care. I don't think he'd care to watch either. Getting the signed waiver would be futile. He don't spell so good and his hand-writing needs work anyhow. 😀

Probably ordered to be done that way so a perfect rendition would be guaranteed, anything less would have spoiled the party. Need to check it out before displeasure is voiced so the innocent would be protected.

It doesn't matter to me who delivers the punishment so long as I'm there to comfort her as she recovers.

Lip syncing is fine but it shouldn't be a secret.

In this case, it really doesn't matter. After all, with amplification etc., how many would have heard her "actual" voice anyway.....the first twenty rows?

However, it comes under the heading of "bread and circuses"....after all, we could have had Clarence Thomas up there lipsyncing to Beyonce's voice, what does it matter?

The Inauguration Committee (or whomever) makes an attempt to co-opt popular culture by having someone like Beyonce sing at the event, and then she doesn't really sing.
So why have her show up? Why not just play the recording and announce "Here's a recording for all of us to sing along with"?

Better yet, why have a singer at all? Aren't we all supposed to know the words and feel the spirit when "The Star Spangled Banner" is played?

Where this lipsyncing stuff really gets annoying is in concerts, Broadway shows, etc., etc. People are paying money (in many cases LOTS of money) to hear a performer sing live. One can pay $9.99 at Wal-Mart to hear the CD version.

For my money, the two best at singing National Anthems were Roger Doucet and Robert Merrill.

She's an artist. If you're paying for a live concert by her you would be ripped off if it was lip-synced. In a sports event, it's a matter of the contract since she isn't the main event. Was she paid to do a live performance? I bet she worked out the details to lip-sync in her contract. She did the actual original tape, so there isn't a violation there.

Does it matter to the average Joe? I doubt it, but I think a lot of people would be outraged if she were making big bucks for a live performance and she didn't actually perform one.

the obscure attempt to make this political, brings up a funny thought, though. Can you imagine someone swearing in by only mouthing the words? I think I'll give my "expert"
testimony in court next week by pretaping it, and lipsyncing it on the witness stand.

"Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth...." (push button) "I do".

She was payed for doing exactly those who hired her, to do. It was planned in advance and approved in advance, any fault finding aimed at her is miss-directed. Do the people complaining really think she could have pulled this off if it was not in the script, if she could done that, she should have been the one taking the oath. Wonder what the real reason for the spin is. Is obvious that a perfect performance was the goal.

I agree. The only complaint, I would think, would be that she did a bad job lip-syncing. If they didn't want it to look like she was singing it, they could have just paid her royalties to play the song over the air and not have had her stand up and act like she was singing it live.
