Being the younger of two children, I was always the youngest at the table in our house.?ÿ This morning I enjoyed a pancake feed put on by the local American Legion Post to raise money for a worthy cause.?ÿ I slipped the cashier a $100 bill and told him to keep the change.?ÿ Expensive pancakes, but, the comraderie was worth the expense.

My table consisted of a couple who both are turning 90 sometime this year, another fellow who is 86 and his wife who is a little older than that, another couple who are 75 and 74 and me.

When you get to be my age it is far more common to be the oldest at the table.

A love this story about the couple who are both 90 as he told it several years ago at a gathering of former students of the little two-room school I atteneded for four years.?ÿ They were teenagers at the time of the story, so, roughly 75 years ago.?ÿ They lived about three miles apart, which was a long walk.?ÿ One Saturday afternoon he went to her house and knocked on the door.?ÿ Her mother came to the door to see what he wanted.?ÿ He said he was wanting to talk to Phyllis and might ask her out on a date, if she was willing.?ÿ Her mother thought he was a fine young man and told him, "Well, I think she and Julia are over at Whitworth's pond fishing.?ÿ You might check there."?ÿ He crawled over about six barbed wire fences on the way to the pond only to discover they were not fishing there.?ÿ No.?ÿ They were skinny-dipping! To say all three were shocked would be an understatement.

He got the date and they've been together ever since.

When you have a family gathering, is there a "kids" table or two?

Yes, there was/is a "kids" table and the youngest one at that table this past Christmas (2022) was 27 years old.

I’m the youngest of 5 but I’ve long since ceased to be the youngest of anything except my wife is 3 years older than me.

My boss at work is 25 years younger than me, most of my coworkers too, only one is older.

I've been active with a local historical society and its museum for 35 years.   Still, I am typically the youngest at our monthly meeting.  There are two others who are 2 and 4 years younger than me who show up from time to time.

I started volunteering at the local historical society's museum. The youngest person at our monthly meeting is usually me, though. Occasionally, two more people who are 2 and 4 years my junior show up.
