I watched it, thought it pretty interesting. I just put it together that Atz Kilcher is Jewel's daddy. Quite a bit of talent in that family it turns out, but it didn't look like her brother, Atz Lee, got any of it. They never mentioned her on the show that I heard.
Atz was my daughter's music teacher @ Homer High School. It's kinda funny how they put on how remote they are, 30 minute drive to Homer!

I have watched it, I grew up there, so I was surprised that is considered wilderness.
The Kilchers have always been a reality show waiting to happen. In a lot of respects, this is just a continuation of what the old man Yule used to do. He would make movies of life homesteading in AK. He traveled around showing the movies.

Right? In Alaska, if you can drive to it, that is practically the big city.
Do I know you JD? Are you from Homer?
I was curious how close they were to anything, the show made out like they were days away from civilization. If I was that close to town, I'd get rid of that POS tractor and buy a John Deere with a cab on it.:-)

Grew up in Kodiak, moved to Anchorage in the mid 80's to attend UAA, lived there for a bit while surveying on the Slope and around the state. Bought property in Anchor Point and lived there for a few years. Worked for Ability Surveys for a couple of years there in Homer before moving back to Anchorage (and Nome). When were you in the area?

My Grandpa was Howard Myhill, he owned Homer Rexall Drugs there on Pioneer Street. I graduated from Homer High in 1990, and thought it was a good idea to move to WA. My Grandma still lives there.
TV shows like this one make me wonder if moving was so great.
