Test flight in windy conditions (15 mph). Lake Wylie and Crowder's Mountain in background.

Those are pretty cool. The picture is awesome and very stable. The DJI phantom used to be known for a vibration problem that caused shaky video but it looks like they fixed that. Also, it has a GPS system that will hold it in a fixed position even in windy conditions, which is nice. Do you have the goggles where you can see what the camera is seeing real time? Can you tilt/pan the camera? Is that an option for the Phantom 2? I've seen some homemade setups that are pretty advanced, but most of them are Octo-Copters to account for the added weight.

The vibration issue is fixed with the setup I bought that attaches to the Phantom 2(Zen Muse H3-2D Stabilized Camera Gimbal). I do not have the goggles, I use a HD 7" monitor on a tripod (you can see in the video).
The camera can tilt 90 degrees, straight down to horizontal.

Awesome. I came real close to buying a Phantom last year just as a toy to play around with, but with the possible legalization of "drones" (I don't really think of this as a drone) for commercial use, it doesn't hurt to start practicing early.

Once again replete with the Bros on hand.
Camera stability is awesome. You got some good altitude on this flight. You are really making want to dump some IRA funds and get me one of these puppies. I mean serious! I want to go flying again. It's been too long.

Did you have any problems with DJI product availabilty?

Colin Guinn filed a lawsuit in federal court and has an injunction against DJI to sell products in the US. From what I understand, they can sell current stock but cannot receive any new products for distribuition until the lawsuit is resolved.

I kinda gave up on following the subject recently, but I am still interested in the hobby/technology.

I went to the local Trimble dealer here in Austin, TX a couple of weeks ago and drove by the DJI North America office @ Anderson Lane & Burnet Rd, but the offices have been closed down and the office moved to Los Angeles I believe.

My dealer hasn't had any problems with product availability for now.

I heard this the other day: "Use UAV or UAS for marketing purposes. UAVs make maps, drones accidentally bomb children..."
