A flash drought?

After starting the year with about 40 inches of rain ending June 21, the first day of summer, we hit a dry spell. 1.43 inches in the last 4 months, June 21 to Oct. 22.

We are finally getting some rain today and we are almost equal to the 4 month total. The local Forest Service guy ( the ones with the dozers that show up for fires at a moments notice ) called it a flash drought.

James,

The hurricane going though Mexico now is heading your way. Depending how tall you are you could be up to various body parts in water! Be careful and good luck.

We are in the area predicted to get 3-5 inches over the next 4 days. Flooding is not an issue here at the house. If we flooded, then the highway at the creek about a half mile away would be about 60 feet under. I'm just glad to finally be getting some rain.

There was 4in yesterday and it has not stopped. It ranges from a light rain to a full blown thunder blaster pouring down gutter flusher.
