Greetings, and welcome to the second half of the ever-changing and extremely odd 2020. There may be some weird s*** going on in the world right now, but RPLS Today continues to grow and improve. This latest update rolls with that trend. But first...
TL;DR
New updates were made to the RPLS Today website to improve the forums. Please refresh your browser cache for the best experience.
And for those who like to read...
Post Editor Improvements
You likely won't notice anything majorly different about the post editor, but the code has been refactored and updated for better performance and to enable future improvements. More about those improvements in a future update.
Smoother Post Editing Experience
If you've ever edited one of your own posts, you probably noticed that you were automatically scrolled down to the editor to make your changes. No longer! Now you stay in the same place and edit your post. When you finish updating, you won't have to scroll back up to the post anymore.
Clarifying When You Aren't Logged In
When you visit a topic and you are logged in, you automatically see the post editor at the bottom of the thread so you can easily reply. However, if you aren't logged in, the editor doesn't appear -- but there's no indication that you aren't logged in (other than the missing editor), so we've added a box with verbiage and links to login or register that appears for guests where the editor would normally appear.
NEW Add Topic Page
In addition to the Add Topic buttons found in each forum, we now have a new Add Topic page. You'll find it in the primary dropdown menu at the top, as well as in the Forums-specific menu. I think a bunch of people have waited for this one -- you won't have to browse to the specific forum you want to post in, just visit the Add Topic page and select the appropriate forum from the dropdown. Easy peasy.
Many Bug Fixes & New Super Powers
As usual, many bugs were squashed in this update. In particular, some folks were having trouble getting a 404 error page when trying to reset their passwords. That should now be corrected.
Also in the "as usual" category comes more super powers for yours truly. MUHUWAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!1!! ????
One last thing...
Note: If you are using the new Microsoft Edge, it is based on the same underlying code as Google Chrome, so those instructions will be very similar.
Thank you! That is a great and helpful article. I have linked to it in the original post. ????
