Hello everyone!

I just wanted to visit and introduce myself quickly. My name is Jordan Burks, and I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I started my land surveying career when I was fresh out of high school in a small town called Magnolia, AR, working for a Land Surveying company called Land Point as a Rodman and Total Station Operator. I worked at Land Point for two years and then moved to Shreveport, LA, to work for French Engineering as a Total Station Operator. I worked for French Engineering collectively for 4-5 Years, then moved to Dallas, TX for seven years, working for I.T. / Customer Service and Sales jobs. I then received an opportunity to be hired as a consultant for Strand AE. Strand AE is an Architecture and Engineering firm that employs LLCs for their field crews. I accepted the offer and moved my wife and son to sunny Phoenix, AZ. I have been here for almost two years and have grown a client base with many constructions and handyman work. I guess the reason I continued to survey was, I'm just a very technical person and love to learn how things are built. I'm also a fan of anything with lines and numbers.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing/learning new tips and tricks in the trade. I plan to get my license next year or two! After that, I need to study and find some land surveyors to sign off on me!?ÿ

I also have an excellent wife named Ana and a terrific son named Santiago... Well, that's me. I hope everyone has a good New Years' Eve!

Welcome, please share more about Strand AE using LLC's for field crews, I have never heard of this before. Do they have LS's on staff that oversee your work?

Welcome to the board.

Do not delay on getting "sign off" from your early employers. The more the years pass, the harder it may get to find those people. Start collecting your materials now!

@elite1resolutions?ÿ

I also recommend that you get busy now with reading and studying. You do the reading and studying to become a better surveyor. When you are good enough you can pass the test. Many people do the reading and studying just so they can pass the test. Wrong approach, IMO.?ÿ?ÿ

That should go in a new thread.
