Another site newbie.?ÿ Joined around the winter holidays, but hadn't intro'd myself.
Worked over 30 yrs at engineering co as civil engr tech - water/wastewater utility engineering, mostly treatment plant & facilities sites & transmission/distribution mains.?ÿ Started out drafting, then progressed into design/layout & assisting w/ project managing.?ÿ The last 10 years have also had real estate broker license (sometimes think I'm too honest to be in real estate).
Had surveying class in junior college in late 70's, but a lot of advancement in surveying technology since then.?ÿ Had involvement w/ surveying on projects, but mostly just the results, not the info gathering.
Wanting to get back into engineering &/or branch into surveying - hence why I joined RPLS Today. Did enjoy geometry & trig & once aspired to get into surveying.?ÿ Like history, so the deeds/records research could be interesting - had a smidge of that w/ rural real estate.
Had AutoCAD experience, but mostly 2D.?ÿ Now have the 2-1/2" thick 'Mastering Civil3D' book to see what I can glean from it.?ÿ Also explored surveying classes, but next cycle doesn't begin until this fall.?ÿ Hope to attain LSIT status - after that, we'll see.?ÿ May be difficult to get the experience to obtain PLS.

Hi Steve,

?ÿ

Sounds like you have an interesting experience set.

Reading your intro got me thinking as to what it is to be "too honest", which is kind of a fun thing to ponder.

I do hope you stick around and participate, especially with the stay at home order here in Ohio, I for one have a lot of time for the computer.

Welcome, Steve

Please add all you can.?ÿ Don't wait another three months, though.?ÿ We need fresh views around here to keep the place lively.

All of my children and grandchildren are experiencing the lockdown due to the coronavirus.?ÿ I'm so far out in the boonies my county still has no reported cases, but, now that I say that there will probably be three announced today.

@holy-cow Thanks for the welcome.?ÿ Warmer weather (until yesterday) delayed me getting back to checking the site.

I'm 50+ miles SE of the metro, so a little different mindset about the virus.?ÿ Our county is about 1/3 suburb, 1/3 semi-rural, 1/3 pure rural (where I'm at). Seemed there were handful of cases closer to the suburbs.

@party-chef?ÿ "too honest"....yeah....u get the occasional buyer or seller that wants to push the ethical envelope.?ÿ Had to quit working w/ a few because they weren't forthright &/or transparent, or unrealistic expectations.?ÿ Also see some 'questionable' actions & I'm not 'salesy' enough.

@stanleysj

Have circled your area but probably haven't traveled through it.?ÿ From Butler to Clinton to Warrensburg to KC area then via Harrisonville back to Butler.?ÿ Can't specifically think of a time of being near Holden or Chilhowee, for example.?ÿ Have a friend/neighbor who grew up in Holden forty to sixty years ago.?ÿ That's about it.

One grandfather grew up a few miles northeast of Clinton so have wandered around Henry County some.

@holy-cow?ÿ yep...sounds like you circled around. Know Holden w/ Heiman's where I'd get cattle feed/minerals, etc. Also was on board of directors for rural water based east of Holden.
