Good morning everyone, new to the page.?ÿ
A little about me; I joined the Air Force in 2011 and got lucky enough to get a job as "Engineering Assistant" or 3E5X1...Did my technical school at Fort Leonard Wood, MO where I learned the basics of surveying, autocad, manual drafting, etc.?ÿ I completed a 4 year active duty contract where I was deployed once, went on numerous short trips overseas and cross-country, learning everything I could about surveying and CAD. Shortly before my contract was up, I was offered a job at a local engineering firm to survey and do CAD; and I jumped on it.?ÿ I continued my college education while working full time and met my state's requirements to take the FS, passed that! I continued working and learning until I could take the PS and state specific exams, passed those! I have been licensed now for about 6 months and have still been learning new things all the time.?ÿ
I enjoy all types of surveying and have gotten a very wide variety of experience since starting my career outside the military. Hope to get some additional good input on the forums; I've been reading them for a while and just now signing up.?ÿ
Have a good day everyone!
Welcome.?ÿ You will find this site to be a tremendous resource for surveyors of all types and locales.
A good friend of mine, now deceased, was named Leonard Wood.?ÿ During his time in the US Army he was sent to various locations, but never to Fort Leonard Wood.?ÿ A former co-worker of mine who grew up in northern Michigan spent time at Fort Leonard Wood during WW II.?ÿ He told me that on the very first day everyone was warned of certain hazards, including chiggers.?ÿ He assumed that was a joke.?ÿ Then he learned the hard way just how vicious those little critters can be.
Welcome!!!!
