Sorry, but like driving past a bad accident where a cranky GIS manager has driven the bus off the cliff, I couldn't help but look.
These are the search terms that google's alexa.com reports are bringing up rpls.com. I for one have to wonder what the Binge boy has posted if "operakostenloser" is the term that connects him with the Google.
On second thought, it could be "dressed for men", though.
Mikey was/is a freakazoid of nature. Ex jarhead/gis government teat sucker and nothing else. Reason he doesn't show his sleazy a$$ here is that deep down he knows these facts. No big deal really. Just like rpls.com.
By the by, where's that other government teat sucker Williams at these days? How about that Skaggs fella?
Hate the government or love it and feed off of it.
Idiots, all of them.
I don't know what Free Opera or "opera free" has to do with them, but I can see that they got the Loser part right.

So I guess is one even contracts to preform surveying services for the government he's a bad guy.
Glad to see your bulletproof logic there hard at work.
No, Kris, you don't get it all...
My comments were about people who rail against government this and government that yet wallow in the government's, taxpayer's, money. There are a lot of them out there, too. What's sad is they come across as though they don't even realize the extent of their hypocrisy. You'd think surveyors, of all people, would be a little more aware of their reasonings. Far as I'm concerned people like that ARE idiots.
Hope that helps.

Well, the next time you begin speaking in vague metaphors and attempting to push the envelope, you may want to be a little more clear next time. Either a TIC (tongue in cheek) or a smiley face thingy would be appreciated as so much gets lost in translation through this medium.
I fail to understand why the 2 sites could not coexist and be useful to all.
My basic observation is the other site is more business oriented and that was probably the intent.
But it is obvious that most of the former POB posters users felt that the old site just needed a new paint and a few simple amenities where they could loosen their boots and interact with other posters. It didn't need a complete tear-down. Wendell grasped this and let it roll.
I fail to understand why there isn't more of a cross migration between the 2 sites.
A few posters over there who profess to be stalwarts of promoting the profession became transparent by showing that the only promote their own self interests. They ignore this site. Their loss because of their own self interests.
Kudos to the posters who do post at both sites.
Statistics mean nothing if the content and camaraderie is worthy.
Robert,
I would love to use both sites, but the current organization of POB is just plain too annoying to be worth the effort. What exactly are they really offering that isn't here, and in a much nicer format? I can't think of a single thing, except for having to wade through MLB and his ilk. no thanks.

No, Kris, you don't get it all...
yeah I've noticed that too.
The most rabid right wing conservatives seem to be retired Government lifers? I've seen this among other people I know outside the internet, not just Surveyor forum posters.
And some long time business people, never worked for the government or even contracted with the government, I know in both worlds are the opposite, left wingers.
Maybe it has to do with perspective, I'm not sure.
I've worked about half and half. I started out in the private and transitioned into the government against my will because I needed to support my family in the 1990s and that was where I found a job.
Andy:
I check in there to see whassup and use it at as a portal to read POB articles.
For instance, Foggy who posts here has a good article online about solo surveying marketing.
I never been to the lounge or even signed up to enter the lounge and I am not interested in doing so. So, I don't know what goes on there in MLB's domain.
So, Dave, I take it you got my point...
I'm certainly not dissing government employees. Goodness knows, if it were not for the astounding numbers of them this economy would be TOTALLY fried. This is what you get when you base an economy on 'service' oriented jobs. That's what government jobs are. It's not the fault of regular pukes like you and I who are just 'trying to make it'. It's the fault of an economic system that has gone horribly wrong. My BIG worry is that it just may have been designed that way. THAT would be really sick.
But, it REALLY grates my arse when people let it be known that their livelyhoods depend on the public's teat and then BEECH about monies that are spent to that end.
That's all.
Take care,
Ed
OH!, and for Kris....:-)

I am an empiricist so I plugged operakostenloser into Google for a search. On the fifth page of results I saw a reference to Renee Fleming which is an obvious connection to the opera part. Twenty pages in I still saw no reference to POB or Michael Binge so I have to conclude something is being misinterpreted.

It looks to me as if "operakostenloser" may have been making the connection with rpls.com via the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society, which is initialized as RPLS in some entries.
