When I click on a post link from the Recent Posts menu, the post appears but the top menu bar comes right down to the top of the first line of post text, and actually covers a bit of the avatar.?ÿ The effect is to make the user think that he's not seeing the whole thing and needs to scroll up.?ÿ Example:

t

The same thing happens when I post a reply:

t

There may be other situations in which the same thing occurs, but these are two that I was easily able to replicate.

It's a subtle but insidiously annoying phenomenon for the user.

Thanks!

Looks like the latest Firefox. I'm also using the latest Firefox and I can't seem to replicate the issue.

If the issue just started within the last 24 hours, it could be a browser cache problem. Yesterday, I installed a design/style update to correct a few minor issues, but if your cache is holding on to old styles, that could be a problem. Maybe try CTRL + F5?

This has been happening with at least the last two versions of firefox

But it is not just firefox - also happens with chrome

The thread post page gets drawn first

Then the menu bar gets added - scrolling down from the top of the page

They both appear to use the same top left coordinate - the effect of this being that the menu bar covers the top part of the underlying page as per Jim's pic.

Lo0ks to me like you need to draw the main page a little lower down the screen to allow for the space taken up by the menu bar

Just to make sure I fully understand.... you can't scroll up to see what's behind the menu?

Nevermind, I think I see what you are saying. You CAN scroll up to see it. But the menu comes in a little bit after you visit the link, covering up the text at the very top of the screen.

The menu is that way by design, so that it follows you as you scroll down the screen, making the menu items immediately available at all times. But I'll see if I can increase the anchor link padding at the top to accommodate this.

Ok, I *think* I have fixed this. It seems to be working in Chrome and Firefox, still running some other tests. But the real test will be the experience of users. 🙂

When I have window open and it fills up my entire screen, the top bar and everything else look right.

When I reduce the window in size the top bar gets twice as thick and covers twice the lines at the top of the page.

It is then necessary for me to zoom out and eveything goes back to normal.........
