I've been seeing a lot of replies coming through email from our notifications system. The notifications that the forum sends out when you request them are nothing more than just simple notifications -- in other words, replying to them will only be returned back to a virtual black hole and NOT the people that are actually participating in that thread.
So if you reply via email to one of our notifications, nobody will see your response. To respond to the people in the thread, you need to come back here to the forum and post a reply. The notifications contain a convenient link that will take you right back to the appropriate thread.
Please don't take this post the wrong way -- I'm not trying to get on anyone's case here, just letting you know that you are wasting your time replying to notifications.

FYI: Email notifications are nothing more than notifications
THANK YOU for the clarification. I always wondered about that. I did have notif's set up on my old flip phone (not smart phone) and thought I could reply... but now I'm thinking that was pics posted to facebook.
Another question... I know it's weird, and I don't ever plan on getting banned, but what would a banned user see when they were trying to view this site? Is it all blacked out, or can they read it and not participate? Is HardAssets still getting notif's when someone replies the post, but he can't retort at all? That would be kind of cruel, but if you get banned, it's probably deserved too.
This is all in the name of information, kind of like when you go to a system in a different county, but research is still research... if THAT makes sense.

When a user is banned, they get a "special" message when trying to login, something like, "Your account has been locked". To be perfectly honest, I have no idea if they still get notifications after being banned/locked.
If your account is locked, you can still see the public side of the forum. In our case, that would be the surveying-related categories only. Sometimes, however, we ban the IP address as well, which means that they can't access the site in any capacity unless they visit from a different IP address.

Thats kinda what I was talking about awhile back when I asked you about getting notifications on facebook.

Darn! I guess I have been banned, no longer able to see the P&R thread.
